These Days Sperry & Associates Is Taking Our Show on the Road More Than Ever

We're very proud of the reputation that we have earned in this area over the past 37 years, and apparently the word is getting out. Teal and white Sperry Construction signs seem to be sprouting up throughout Florida and Georgia.
"We are getting more and more calls for projects outside the Tallahassee area," explains Jay Bostwick, Sperry's Vice-President of Business Development. "We have been working in Panama City, West Palm Beach and Clearwater, Florida and we’ve recently finished a project in Cairo, Georgia."
In Panama City, an area that is experiencing strong economic activity in anticipation of the opening of a new international airport, Sperry has been hard at work.
We recently completed several buildings at the airport, a high school gymnasium, a five-story, 110,000 sq. ft. climate controlled public self storage facility and a free standing, ornate Thai food restaurant.
"The owner of Premier Storage saw what we had done with The Storage Center at Bull Run and asked us to build his Panama City facility, explains Bostwick. "Since then we have kept a Sperry team busy in the Panama City area."
It was a referral that brought Kate Chin to Sperry when it came time to build her Jazmine Thai Cuisine Restaurant. A commercial kitchen equipment dealer who had worked with Sperry in the past referred her to us with a strong recommendation.
The 6,000 sq. ft. project features a 2,000 sq. ft. commercial kitchen and 4,000 sq. ft. of dinning room space. The biggest construction challenge was creating a firm foundation in the sandy soil which required sinking 25-foot poles and pouring concrete to provide stability for the foundation.
With high marks on a FedEx project at the Tallahassee Airport, we sent a Sperry team down to West Palm Beach to perform major renovations on a FedEx package handling facility.
The project included the relocation of overhead doors, placement and removal of interior walls and the installation of extensive HVAC equipment and the necessary ductwork.
It was the expansion of an Encore Senior Living facility that brought Sperry to Clearwater last year. With a successful track record on several earlier projects for Encore, Sperry was called on to add several residential units to their Green Acres facility.
North of the border, we have been very busy in South Georgia with both Sperry and our Thomasville based subsidiary, Wentworth Building Corporation, which is becoming a growing force in that region’s commercial construction market.
A recent Sperry project was a significant addition to the Pioneer Seed Research facility in Cairo, Georgia. This 20,000 sq. ft. expansion and remodeling project, including a 3,000 sq ft. "cool room" had to be conducted while the tenant occupied the building. Extensive site work was required before the pre-engineered frame with a metal roof system could be constructed.
"Wherever a Sperry team goes we bring our time-tested approach to project management and commitment to customer satisfaction," insists Bostwick. "Our team leaders know how to identify and enroll local tradesmen and vendors that can support our high level of quality construction."
