Education and Background
Jay entered the construction industry as a laborer in Clearwater, Florida in 1980. He became a carpenter's assistant two years later in Orlando and was offered a position as Project Manager for H.J. High Construction Company in 1984. Only a year later, he was recruited by Tolad Industries, Inc. as Construction Manager. His responsibilities included estimating, bidding, and managing all construction for the company in the Orlando, Rockledge and Cocoa Beach areas. By 1987, he had been recruited as an Estimator-Project Manager for Thomas-McCormack, Inc. in Winter Park. In this position, he estimated, bid, negotiated with subcontractors and occasionally supervised projects in the field. Sperry & Associates
recognized Jay's talent for construction sales and appointed him as a
senior sales representative in 1989. He is now responsible for assembling
design professionals for design/build proposals, selecting potential projects
to bid, permitting jobs for construction and working directly with prospects
to meet all of their construction needs. Jay was promoted to sales manager
in 1999.
